The Marine Hotel
Extensively modernised and refurbished
Originally in 1860, the building was a girls school. In 1890, it became the Dominican convent.
It has been known as the Marine Hotel for many years and since 2006 has been under its current ownership and undergone extensive modernisation and refurbishment.
Under its current ownership the Marine’s new interior now provides its guests with a modern sophisticated canvas in which to relax and enjoy its many delights, while being the perfect base in which to explore the north Norfolk coast and countryside.
Hunstanton, the east coast resort which faces west
Famous as the east coast resort which faces west across the Wash, Hunstanton offers long sandy beaches backed by distinctive striped cliffs, 60 feet high. The sunsets viewed across the Wash can be stunning.
The town is divided into the ancient fishing village of Old Hunstanton and the modern resort of New Hunstanton which sprang up after the arrival of railway in 1862. Here, the extensive Green slopes down to the site of the old pier. There is a popular seafront, attractive gardens and some fine Victorian houses.
Old Hunstanton, with its mellow houses and narrow lanes, is a picturesque village with an impressive medieval church and a moated 15th century Hall.
